Act of Contrition

O my God, I am heartily sorry for having offended Thee and I detest all my sins, because I dread the loss of heaven and the pains of hell, but most of all because they offend Thee, my God, who art all good and deserving of all my love. I firmly resolve, with the help of Thy grace, to confess my sins, to do penance and to amend my life.

The Sign of the Cross

In the name of the Father, and of the Son,
and of the Holy Spirit.
Amen

The Lord’s Prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name;
thy kingdom come;
thy will be done;
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation;
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,
the power and the glory,
for ever and ever.
Amen.

Hail Mary

Hail Mary full of Grace, the Lord is with thee.
Blessed are thou amongst women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb Jesus.
Holy Mary Mother of God,
pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death
Amen.

The Gloria Patri

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son
and to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be,
world without end.
Amen.

Act of Spiritual Communion

Pray this prayer when the Mass is being offered, wherever you are, to unite your offerings with the Mass and to receive grace from our Blessed Lord.

My Jesus,
I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament.
I love You above all things, and I desire to receive You into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally,
come at least spiritually into my heart.
I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You.
Amen.

Prayers before Mass

Direct your Intention

O Lord Jesus Christ, King of everlasting glory, behold I desire to come to Thee this day, and to receive Thy Body and Blood in this heavenly Sacrament, for Thy honour and glory, and the good of my soul. I desire to receive Thee, because it is Thy desire, and Thou hast so ordained: blessed be Thy Name for ever. I desire to come to Thee like Magdalen, that I may be delivered from all my evils, and embrace Thee, my only Good. I desire to come to Thee, that I may be happily united to Thee, that I may henceforth abide in Thee, and Thou in me; and that nothing in life or death may ever separate me from Thee. Amen.

An Act of Faith

I FIRMLY believe, O my divine Jesus, that Thou art truly present in the Blessed Sacrament of the Altar. I believe that It really and substantially contains Thy Body and Blood, Thy soul and divinity. I acknowledge these truths; I believe these wonders; I adore the power that has wrought them, the same power that said: “Let there be light”, and light was made. Verily, Thou art a hidden God, the God of Israel, the Saviour. Amen.

Prayers after Mass

Anima Christi

Soul of Christ be my sanctification;
Body of Christ, be my salvation;
Blood of Christ, fill all my veins;
Water of Christ’s side, wash out my stains;
Passion of Christ, my comfort be;
O good Jesu, listen to me;
In Thy wounds I fain would hide;
Ne’er to be parted from Thy side;
Guard me, should the foe assail me;
Call me when my life shall fail me;
Bid me come to Thee above;
With Thy saints to sing Thy love,
Word without end.
Amen.

An Act of Love

O MOST loving Lord, who art ever lovely, and never sufficiently loved, I love Thee with all my heart, and above all things. I consider every moment of my life as lost, which has not been consecrated to Thy love. Yes, O divine Jesus, whilst Thou art dwelling within my breast, whilst Thou “livest in me”, I trust “Thou knowest that I love Thee”.
