At St Nicholas we are committed to the work of the Church in the Parish, and have been serving the parish of Skirbeck for nearly a thousand years. There are many things which go into the upkeep of the church which people do not realise.
We do not make a profit, year on year, and regularly have had to use up what is left of our reserves in order to remain open and serving the local community in our little corner of Lincolnshire.
Our Parish share – the amount of money we are expected to pay to the diocese to have a parish priest and support the work of the wider Church in Lincolnshire – is £24,300 for 2025. How we will get anywhere close to this figure is through the help and generosity of the wider parish and the faithful.
The Parish Share only represents a percentage of the money which we need to raise every year, and does not cover the amount we have to find for maintaining the church building, being there for the local community, financing the mission of the parish, or giving to the charities whom we are dedicated in supporting.
We cannot do this alone.
